- I prefer to give in to keep the peace;
- I try to understand my spouse’s point of view;
- I try to avoid arguments, remembering the importance of peace at home.

- Dinner at a nice halal restaurant;
- Shopping together for new modest clothing;
- A pet allowed in Islam;
- A surprise in the form of a homemade breakfast;
- Simply attention and presence (without a material gift).
How I feel about maintaining contact with my spouse’s parents:
- I don’t mind as long as it doesn’t interfere with our relationship;
- Very important, because honoring parents is a Muslim’s duty;
- Absolutely important; we are one big family;
